A Letter From Georgia Dates...
Dear
Friends,
I would like everyone to know how pleased I am that Aimee, a
Marshalltown gal, is going to carry on the Lillie Mae traditions.
The store has meant a lot to me and has been such a part of my life.
I was just a baby when my Father, Andrew Mercury moved us to
Marshalltown. The store originated in 1939 with Pete Mercuris, who
was responsible for bringing my Father in as a partner, John
Moncoulis, and his nephew, Bill Moucoulis. When my husband, Buck
Dates, and I moved here in 1985 it was hard to believe that not only
was I back in Marshalltown, but actually owning the store and making
the product. I left Marshalltown in 1964 and never envisioned moving
back let alone what Buck and I had just embraced doing from Los
Angeles.
I believe that God has brought Aimee and I together at this
particular time in both our lives. I will remain with Aimee
indefinitely teaching her everything I do. We were laughing the
other day as we made Caramel apples together. She said, "I can't
believe this is my store," and I said, "I can't believe it either. I
feel like some great help has just arrived!"
I know she will be successful and I will do all I can to help make
that a reality for her.
God bless,
